PM: There'll be no hasty decisions about outsourcing

Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic said on Thursday that his government would make no hasty decisions after the Constitutional Court found as unacceptable the referendum question to ban the outsourcing of non-core public-sector activities.

The court decision "has in fact changed nothing," Milanovic told the press in Koprivnica, 120 km northeast of Zagreb. When asked if outsourcing would resume in light of the Constitutional Court ruling, he said: "Only where necessary and by no means to the detriment of workers. All their rights, including their right to work, will be respected."

The prime minister pledged that no hasty decisions would be made in this regard. "The fact remains that the structure of the labour force in this segment will need to change. As people retire, it will have to be taken into account that, first and foremost, new engagements are cost-efficient," he said.
