Prime Minister Kosor and Ambassador Morningstar hold talks

ZAGREB, Feb 26 (Hina) - Croatia's Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor on Friday received Richard Morningstar, Special Envoy of the United States Secretary of State for Eurasian Energy.

Kosor informed the guest that the Croatian government attached special importance to the energy sector in its economic programme and that it had adopted an energy strategy last year.

The premier said Croatia was open to cooperation with energy companies and experts from the United States.

She recalled that energy security and independence were important for economic recovery and in this context she spoke about the Croatian government's commitment to the development of good relations with all protagonists that contributed to the safety and security of international energy supply.

Kosor also spoke about the important role of Croatia in ensuring the energy stability of central and southeastern Europe, as evidenced at a recent energy summit organised in Budapest by the Visegrad Group.

She thanked the United States for its support to Croatia on its Euro-Atlantic road.

Ambassador Morningstar said that this was his first visit to Croatia. In his first contacts with Croatian experts he got a clear picture of the important role of energy development for Croatia's economy.

He underlined Croatia's important role in the energy sector in central and southeastern Europe.

The ambassador said the United States appreciated the support offered by Croatia to the neighbouring region in its Euro-Atlantic integration efforts.
