Prime Minister Kosor announces unified legislation on financing of political parties, independent slates
ZAGREB, Jan 11 (Hina) - The Commission monitoring the implementation of anti-corruption measures on Monday held a session at the government headquarters, with its chair, Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor, saying that in the next ten days a task force would be set up to draft a single bill regulating the financing of political parties and independent candidates (slates).
The government said in a statement that PM Kosor suggested amending legislation regulating the financing of political parties and independent candidates."A task force will be set up in ten days' time to draft a single bill regulating that area which at present is regulated by six different laws," the government said in the statement.
The task force is to be made up of representatives of the ministries of administration, justice and finance, the State Audit Office, and the State Electoral Commission.
The session was acquainted with the report "GRECO 3rd Evaluation Round - Incriminations and Financing of Political Parties", according to which Croatia has been given 11 recommendations, which makes it one of the five countries with the least recommendations out of 19 countries which have completed the third evaluation round.
Five of the recommendations refer to incriminations and six to the financing of political parties.
PM Kosor called on state institutions which still have not submitted proposals for an anti-corruption action plan to do it promptly, and urged public companies to submit their anti-corruption programmes as well.
The session also heard a report on the work of the State Audit Office and discussed recommendations from the State Audit Office to other institutions.
Also discussed were activities of the Central Public Procurement Office, which was established on 12 November 2009 with the aim of reducing corruption risk and making savings in that area.
The Commission monitoring the implementation of anti-corruption measures also discussed the course of an anti-corruption educational campaign in secondary schools in Osijek, Split, Rijeka and Zagreb.
