Prime Minister Kosor extends condolences on Zadar Archbishop's death
ZAGREB, Jan 25 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor on Monday sent a letter of condolence to the president of the Croatian Conference of Catholic Bishops, Djakovo-Osijek Archbishop, Msgr.Marin Srakic, on the the death of Zadar Archbishop Ivan Prendja.
The departure of the deceased Archbishop Prendja deprived the Catholic Church of one of messengers of faith, peace, tolerance and love towards other people, Kosor said in her letter.
She recalled that the dignitary was with his faithful and his people during the most dramatic moments of the recent history in Zadar.
Prendja died suddenly at the age of 70 in Zagreb on Monday morning, the press relations office of the Bishops' Conference reported.
Pope John Paul II appointed Prendja as Zadar Archbishop Coadjutor in 1990. On 2 February 1996 he was enthroned as Zadar Archbishop.
Prendja was born on 31 December 1939 in Zemunik Gornji, the hinterland of Zadar. He was ordained as a priest on 29 June 1964 in Zadar.
