Prime Minister Kosor meets Austrian minister for European and international affairs

ZAGREB, Oct 14 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor on Thursday held talks at the government headquarters with Austria's Minister for European and International Affairs, Michael Spindelegger, and a delegation of parliamentary deputies of the Austrian People's Party.

The two sides agreed that Croatian-Austrian relations were exceptionally good and friendly, with PM Kosor thanking Austria for its continued support to Croatia on the path to EU membership.

Commenting on the last stage of Croatia's EU entry talks, Spindelegger said that Austria fully supported it and was already looking forward to welcoming Croatia as the 28th EU member.

As for the economic cooperation between the two countries, Kosor said that Austria was the biggest foreign investor in Croatia. Also, Austria is the leading investor in Croatia's tourist sector, the number of Austrian tourists this year went up six percent and they were third in terms of tourist arrivals in Croatia.

Speaking of her cabinet's programme for economic recovery, Kosor also mentioned the latest investment cycle that was presented in September.

As for the ongoing reforms in Croatia, notably those in the economy, Spindelegger commended the government's efforts in that regard, adding that they were very important because Croatia would soon join the EU.

He told Kosor that a regional conference of the Davos World Economic Forum would be held in Vienna on June 8-9, 2011, and invited her to the event.
