Prime Minister meets European Parliament's rapporteur on Croatia

ZAGREB, Aug 30 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor on Monday met the European Parliament's Rapporteur on Croatia, Hannes Swoboda, with whom she discussed what Croatia was doing to complete its EU entry talks as soon as possible.

The completion of the EU membership talks is a priority for the government, Kosor said, adding that Croatia would do its best to complete the talks by the end of 2010.

Croatia is committed to the fight against corruption, Kosor said, adding that the government would pay special attention to the two most demanding policy areas in the EU entry talks - competition policy and justice and fundamental rights.

Swoboda said that Croatia had made significant progress on the road to EU membership, underlining the importance of the fight against corruption and commending PM Kosor's efforts in that regard.

He also commented on the Croatian-Slovenian border arbitration agreement, saying that it should serve as an example to other countries in the region in dealing with outstanding issues.
