Prime minister Milanovic congratulates Pope on successful papacy

Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic on Monday sent a letter to Pope Benedict XVI ahead of the Pope's withdrawal, congratulating him on eight years of successful papacy.

Holy Father, on the occasion of your withdrawal from your pontificate, it is my great honour to send Your Holiness my sincerest and best congratulations for the successful eight years of your papacy, characterised by fidelity, dignity, long-term vision and, in particular, courage and humbleness, says the premier's letter.
PM Milanovic thanked Pope Benedict XVI for receiving him in October 2012 during an official visit to the Vatican, which coincided with the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Holy See and Croatia.
In that regard, I am convinced that the government of the Republic of Croatia, which is dedicated to firm bilateral relations with the Holy See, will continue to work with Your Holiness' successor to St. Peter's chair and closest associates in the spirit of dialogue, openness and mutual respect, says Milanovic's letter published on the government's web and Facebook sites.
Milanovic's letter goes on to wish the Pope all the best in the continuation of his spiritual life.
