Prime Minister Milanovic said in Parliament that the interpellations by opposition parties HDZ and ORaH about the government project concerning oil and gas exploration and exploitation in the Adriatic Sea were not backed up by valid arguments

Milanovic noted that senior HDZ officials were not present in Parliament during his speech. "I wish some of the HDZ officials were here, not necessarily the president of the party, but those who receive and talk with representatives of multinational companies that apply for tenders. For the sake of transparency and public availability of information, they should tell us what they talk about. I never received representatives of Marathon Oil and other corporations, nor will I ever receive them, they can't reach me. But senior delegates of the HDZ talk with those people, as do HDZ county prefects... they should tell us what they talk about and what they tell them at those meetings," the Prime Minister said.

He said that "it's all right that (ORaH leader) Mirela Holy is against everything", but the HDZ members of Parliament "should agree among themselves, because they say one thing in Parliament while their county prefects say another thing to the Americans."

Speaking of hydrocarbon exploitation, Milanovic said that at this moment the focus was solely on the exploration of oil and gas reserves in the Adriatic, adding that he expected these reserves to be enough to make Croatia independent of events such as the Ukraine crisis.

Milanovic said that this was a completely transparent procedure, inviting the HDZ and ORaH, which had demanded publication of the agreement between the Economy Ministry and the Spectrum company on seismic explorations in the Adriatic, to come to the Ministry and see the document.
