Prime minister send an appeal to everyone to pay taxes to the state. "Pay taxes to the Croatian state. This is your state, our state. This is the Croatian state," Milanovic said.

Prime Miinister Zoran Milanovic said at the start of the government session on Thursday that the number of jobless fell below 300,000 and that the industrial output had gone up as well, appealing to everyone to pay taxes to the state.
By sending an appeal to pay taxes, Milanovic indirectly commented to the announcement of President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic that she would donate the money she received for the election campaign to charity by transferring the funds to the account of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) to avoid paying taxes. The HDZ will then transfer the money to charity associations.

"Pay taxes to the Croatian state. This is your state, our state. This is the Croatian state," Milanovic said.

Nobody likes to pay taxes, he added, but taxes must be paid and by paying taxes you set an example, "Set an example, don't avoid paying taxes," the PM said.

Tax evasion is not something everyone can do with the same level of responsibility, namely irresponsibility, Milanovic said.

The number of the unemployed today is slightly higher than 298,000, Milanovic said adding that the last time the number of jobless dropped to below 300,000 was in 2009 when the crisis started.

Milanovic recalled that last year the number of the unemployed was 355,000.

The PM also underlined that the industrial production had gone up by 3.5% on the year.
