Retail trade rises for 12 straight months

Retail trade in Croatia rose by 4.5% this July compared to July 2014, according to preliminary figures released on Thursday by the Croatian statistical office which also said this is the biggest increase in nearly eight years.

July was the 12th consecutive month with a growing consumption, a record stretch since 2007.

The working-day adjusted statistics show a 3.7 per cent rise in nominal terms, and a 4.5 per cent in real terms compared to July 2014.

A better consumption and an increase in exports were the main causes of the GDP growth in the second quarter of this year.
