Minister of the Interior Davor Božinović, who heads the national COVID-19 response team, said on Tuesday that he hoped Croatia's tourist regions would stay orange on the map of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, noting that that would depend on everyone.

Answering reporters' questions about epidemiological restrictions, Božinović said that Croatia was among the EU countries with the most liberal epidemiological restrictions and that one should therefore comply with them.

He expressed hope that the country's tourist destinations would stay orange on the EU's epidemiological map both this and next week, but noted that that would depend on everyone's behaviour and avoidance of large gatherings.

"The autumn will be full of challenges but I believe that with the knowledge acquired so far and with responsible behaviour, we can be more prepared for it," Božinović told reporters during a visit to Žuta Lokva, in the central region of Lika, where he attended a commemoration for four police officers killed by Croatian Serb rebels at the start of the 1991-95 Homeland War.
