Summit of EU and Arab League starts in Egypt

Leaders from Arab League and European Union member nations convened on Sunday in Egypt's Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh for the first ever EU-Arab League summit as the region faces turmoil and political challenges.

"This summit is a step forward in the level of communication beween these two organisations. The main topics will be migrations, the development policy, security and stepping up economic cooperation and security," Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said upon arriving at the summit.

The opening address was given by European Council President Donald Tusk.

The summit was also addressed by Egyptian President  Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
