The government of Croatia strongly slams Split incident

The Croatian government harshly condemns the display of a Nazi symbol on the pitch of the Poljud stadium during the Croatia-Italy match played on Friday.

This incident has brought great shame on and damaged the reputation of the Republic of Croatia whose state institutions persistently advocate democratic, European and anti-fascist values. It has also harmed the reputation of the national football team.

The government expresses its utmost exasperation at the negligence of the organiser who failed to take all the necessary steps to prevent such an incident. Police are already taking measures to find the perpetrators.
