"In the first three decades of Croatian freedom and independence, we, as a people, went through a long and thorny path. The path of liberating Croatian occupied territories in the defensive but also victorious Homeland War, the path of creating institutions, the path of creating a market economy and the path of international positioning of Croatia and its affirmations," Prime Minister Plenković said in a statement to the media, congratulating everyone on Statehood Day. On that occasion, he expressed his gratitude to the Croatian veterans, especially the visionary, statesman, first Croatian president, Dr. Franjo Tuđman.
Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and members of the Government are participating today in the celebration of Statehood Day, which began with the laying of wreaths at the Homeland Monument.Congratulating everyone on Statehood Day, Prime Minister Plenković pointed out that it is the most important holiday, which embodies the centuries-old aspirations of the Croatian people for their state.
This is the day, he added, when the first multi-party Parliament was constituted in modern, democratic Croatia and which was the forerunner of all other decisions that led to the Christmas Constitution and to June 25, October 8 and, of course, the international recognition of Croatia on the 15th. January 1992.

He emphasized how important it is that as a young nation, in terms of international recognition, we celebrate our important days that send a message to everyone, especially the young generations, about Croatian identity, state, heritage, culture, history and heritage.

He expressed the wish that all actors together, especially in this new convocation of the Croatian Parliament and the work of the Government, make additional efforts for an even stronger and more resilient economy, in such demanding international circumstances, for more preservation of social cohesion, for showing solidarity and helping those who are the most vulnerable in society and to achieve a new level of democratic culture in the country, as befits a country that has achieved all its strategic goals.
