We stand for the end of the war Ukraine, but the peace must be just and sustainable

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković participated in the informal summit on Ukraine and European security organized by French President Emmanuel Macron. We stand for an end to the war in Ukraine, he said, but with a just and sustainable peace, which will ensure respect of international law and the integrity of Ukraine.
 

He added that it is necessary to define a negotiation format that will include both Ukraine and the European Union.
 
The Prime Minister reported on platform X that he had discussed with a wider circle of partners the need to provide further support to Ukraine, so that it would be as strong as possible in the face of possible ceasefire negotiations.
 
"Our position is clear. Like our transatlantic partners, we stand for an end to the war. However, it is necessary to achieve a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace, which will ensure respect of international law and the integrity of Ukraine. Therefore, it is necessary to define a negotiation format that will include both Ukraine and the European Union," Plenković said.
 
He stressed that it was important to reach an agreement on a high-profile person to speak on behalf of the EU regarding further talks on Ukraine.
