"Welcome Croatia" photo exhibition staged in Brussels

Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic and European Parliament President Martin Schulz on Thursday opened an exhibition of photographs ,"Welcome Croatia", in front of the parliament building in Brussels.

The exhibition of photos shot by photographer Damir Fabijanic presents the wealth of Croatia's scenery, cultural heritage and customs.

The exhibition was opened to mark Croatia's accession to the European Union on July 1, 2013 and in a brief speech the PM said that as soon as the celebrations were over it was time to get to work as July 1 would be just another ordinary work day.

Schulz said that Croatia was a country with a European past and a European future, a country that was returning to the European family where it always belonged.

Croatia's prime minister is attending an EU summit on Thursday and Friday as an observer for now but at the next summit already, he will participate as a full member.

Ahead of the summit Milanovic is expected to attend a meeting of heads of state and government and deputy prime ministers from the Party of European Socialists (PES). He is also expected to meet with Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta.
