Prime Minister Plenković reported today in Brussels that an agreement was reached on the opening of accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova, and that Georgia received candidate status. With Croatia's strong commitment, the European Council will open negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina after the European Commission prepares a progress report in March.

Today, after the European Council meeting, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković informed the media about the topics of the meeting. The first topic was the Multiannual Financial Framework, i.e. its revision.

Another topic was the issue of the enlargement of the European Union, and, Prime Minister Plenković reported, an agreement was reached that a decision would be made today on the opening of negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova, and Georgia was granted candidate status.

"Based on Croatia's particular commitment - we spent the whole afternoon fighting for the best possible conclusion on Bosnia and Herzegovina - we got what is crucial in these circumstances in my opinion, and that is a very clear conclusion - the European Council will open negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina when the criteria set for it are met. With the fact that this time the Council invites the Commission to prepare its report on progress in March with the aim of making a formal decision", emphasized Plenković.
