Prime Minister congratulates Pope Francis

Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic has sent a letter to Pope Francis congratulating him on the election as the new pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church, the government's public relations office said in a statement.

"Holy Father, it is my great honour to extend my best wishes to Your Holiness on the election as the 266th pontiff," he said wishing him a successful long and blessed pontificate, founded on peace, solidarity, human dignity, tolerance and support to the weakest and poorest.

I look forward to the successful cooperation with Your Holiness and further promotion of relations between Croatia and the Holy See.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković met today with the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Mark Rutte, who is on a working visit to Croatia. They began the meeting by touring the Rafale fighter jets, the Bayraktar unmanned aerial vehicle and the Black Hawk helicopters at the “Colonel Marko Živković” Barracks in Pleso, and then discussed key security challenges, strengthening European defense and modernizing the Croatian Armed Forces at Banski dvori. It is crucial to achieve a lasting, just and sustainable peace; Croatia will not send soldiers to Ukrainian territory

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković described today's meeting in Paris as important because many countries, each in their own way, have expressed their willingness to participate in the Coalition of the Willing. Some, he explained, will participate with forces that would be on the ground in Ukraine if a ceasefire were to occur and an agreement were reached, while other countries, such as Croatia, which will not send its soldiers to Ukrainian territory, will continue to provide political, diplomatic and military support to that country. He also considers it crucial to reach an agreement that would enable a lasting, just and sustainable peace.

As a guarantor of Dayton Agreement, Croatia will not waver in commitment to stability, equality and European path of BiH

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković participated today in the international conference "30 years after Dayton: leading the way with local solutions". On that occasion, he emphasized that Croatia, as a guarantor of the Dayton Agreement and as a member of the European Union and NATO, will not give up its commitment to stability, equality and the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina. "Our only interest is the same one that we defended in the 1990s. A stable, functional and prosperous neighboring country in which Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats, like all other citizens, enjoy equal rights and equal dignity and where no one feels like a second-class citizen in their own country", he said. It is crucial to implement the Constitution in a way that strengthens, not undermines, trust between the three constituent peoples and to avoid practices that deviate from the spirit of the agreement or create unnecessary and harmful misunderstandings.

Plenković and Merz: In uncertain global circumstances, we are strengthening the partnership between Croatia and Germany

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković met today in Berlin with the Federal Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, with whom he discussed bilateral relations, strengthening economic cooperation and the procurement of 44 Leopard tanks, the most modern tanks available on the market. They also discussed key topics for the future of the European Union in view of the meeting of the European Council, finding a solution for further financial support to Ukraine, as well as international efforts to achieve a lasting and just peace in that country.

Economic forum is a strong contribution to the further strengthening of Croatian-German relations

During the visit of Prime Minister Andrej Plenković to Germany, the Croatian-German Economic Forum was held, with the aim of further strengthening relations between Croatia and its most important foreign trade partner, with the participation of around forty Croatian companies. At the opening of the Forum, Prime Minister Plenković presented the most important Croatian economic indicators and achievements to German businessmen and invited them to invest in Croatia. He expressed his hope that today's Forum would contribute to strengthening existing and creating new partnerships, emphasizing that the Government would be available to everyone in this context and provide assistance within its powers.
