"By remembering the victims of the Holocaust, we are paying our respects to millions of people who lost their lives and to those who lost members of their families," Kosor said.
"Although that time appears increasingly distant, as does the idea that someone could decide in that way to destroy part of the population only because they are of a different faith or culture, it is very important to sustain the memory of the worst horror of the last century."
Kosor said observing Holocaust Remembrance Day was a chance to raise awareness that millions of lost lives were not just historical and statistical facts.
"That memory also obliges us to reject anti-Semitism and every other form of hatred and radicalism as well as to pursue joint efforts to build a world of peace, tolerance and cooperation," Kosor said.
