Prime Minister receives ICTY President Robinson

ZAGREB, July 6 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor on Tuesday received the president of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), Patrick Robinson, who on Monday arrived for an official visit to Croatia.

Stressing that Croatia was close to wrapping up its accession negotiations with the European Union, Kosor recalled that last week Croatia had opened the last three negotiating chapters within its EU membership talks.

Kosor also recalled that during its nonpermanent membership of the United Nations' Security Council, Croatia had actively contributed to all discussions on the exit strategy of the UN tribunal, headquartered in The Hague.

In this context, the Croatian premier pointed out the importance of bringing to justice the two remaining fugitives, Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic, indicted by the ICTY for war crimes.

Thanking Croatia for its contribution to the Security Council debates, Robinson said justice would not be satisfied as long as Mladic and Hadzic were on the run.

The aim of this meeting, said Prime Minister Plenković, is to present to the NATO Secretary General the activities of the Croatian defense industry, an important segment of the Croatian economy.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković met today with the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Mark Rutte, who is on a working visit to Croatia. They began the meeting by touring the Rafale fighter jets, the Bayraktar unmanned aerial vehicle and the Black Hawk helicopters at the “Colonel Marko Živković” Barracks in Pleso, and then discussed key security challenges, strengthening European defense and modernizing the Croatian Armed Forces at Banski dvori. Plenković and French Minister Haddad on bilateral, European and global issues

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković met today at the Banski Dvori the Minister Delegate for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, Benjamin Haddad. Minister Haddad's visit is a confirmation of the continuity and further strengthening of the close cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the European Union and NATO.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković described today's meeting in Paris as important because many countries, each in their own way, have expressed their willingness to participate in the Coalition of the Willing. Some, he explained, will participate with forces that would be on the ground in Ukraine if a ceasefire were to occur and an agreement were reached, while other countries, such as Croatia, which will not send its soldiers to Ukrainian territory, will continue to provide political, diplomatic and military support to that country. He also considers it crucial to reach an agreement that would enable a lasting, just and sustainable peace.

As a guarantor of Dayton Agreement, Croatia will not waver in commitment to stability, equality and European path of BiH

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković participated today in the international conference "30 years after Dayton: leading the way with local solutions". On that occasion, he emphasized that Croatia, as a guarantor of the Dayton Agreement and as a member of the European Union and NATO, will not give up its commitment to stability, equality and the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina. "Our only interest is the same one that we defended in the 1990s. A stable, functional and prosperous neighboring country in which Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats, like all other citizens, enjoy equal rights and equal dignity and where no one feels like a second-class citizen in their own country", he said. It is crucial to implement the Constitution in a way that strengthens, not undermines, trust between the three constituent peoples and to avoid practices that deviate from the spirit of the agreement or create unnecessary and harmful misunderstandings.
