Croatia is a responsible member of NATO because it contributes to the stability of the Alliance and the preservation of peace by dedicated investment in its armed forces and military industry, said Defense Minister Ivan Anušić at the NATO summit in Washington.

Minister of Defense Ivan Anušić participated in the NATO summit in Washington from July 9 to 11, together with President Zoran Milanović and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman.

One of the main topics of the summit is strengthening the defense industry, increasing the production of military equipment and weapons, as well as strengthening the defense cooperation of the members. Further aid to Ukraine and the alliance's global partnerships are still being discussed.

"Strengthening the defense industry has no alternative in the light of impaired security conditions," said Anušić, who participated in a forum on the defense industry organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Washington.

The summit also marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of NATO, which, he said, has shown that it is the most successful military-political alliance in history and the main guarantor of peace and security of its members.

This year, Croatia marked its 15th anniversary of membership in the Alliance.

Anušić said that the anniversary of the founding of NATO is also a moment to remember the difficult path that Croatia went through from gaining its independence, fighting for freedom and defending territorial integrity to the status of a NATO member.
