Croatian PM, Bulgarian president advocate stronger economic cooperation

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on Tuesday received Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and they pushed for stronger economic cooperation to boost trade and welcomed the excellent political relations between the two countries, which cooperate as EU and NATO member states, Plenkovic's office said in a press release.

The two officials also talked about the situation in the region and the European prospects of the countries in Southeast Europe.

Plenkovic outlined the priorities of Croatia's chairmanship of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2020, announcing summits of Southeast European countries and EU member states in Zagreb.

Croatia and Bulgaria wish to join the Schengen and euro areas as well as the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, which the two officials also discussed.

They also talked about the continuation of Croatian-Bulgarian cooperation within the China+17 initiative.
