Defence Council supports draft defence plan
At a session held on Tuesday the Defence Council supported a draft plan for Croatia's defence and the draft will be submitted for adoption, the government's press office said on Tuesday evening.
The draft plan of defence is a fundamental document from the area of defence and Croatia has not had it since it gained independence. Together with documents adopted in the last two years - a strategic defence overview and a long-term plan for the development of the Armed Forces, this document completes a set of the three fundamental documents from the area of defence, the office said.
It defines the functioning of the state and society in a state of immediate threat and war. It harmonises national solutions for crisis planning with NATO's system of response to crises. It also defines in detail and clarifies the role of civil actors in charge of defence preparations and of legal persons of special importance for defence, the office said.
"The Defence Plan can also serve as a model and basis for the establishment of an integral national system of crisis response," the office said.
The Office of President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said briefly on its web page that the Defence Council held a session at the Office of the President on Tuesday to discuss the defence plan.
