Gov't to nominate Cvitan as new Chief State Prosecutor

Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic announced at the start of Thursday's meeting of his cabinet that the incumbent head of the Office for Suppression of Corruption and Organised Crime (USKOK), Dinko Cvitan, would be nominated as the new Chief State Prosecutor to replace Mladen Bajic at this post.

The proposal for Cvitan's nomination will be forwarded to parliament.

Announcing this proposal, Milanovic thanked Bajic for all he had done during his three terms in the last 12 years.

I thank Bajic for all what has been good which has been much more than what I think has not been good, Milanovic said.

He noted that he had spoken about what had not been good four years ago and that he could repeat it today but "it is not associated with accusations, defamation and slanders that are being mentioned about him (Bajic) in the recent days".
