Government sends several bills and amendments to parliament

The government on Wednesday sent to parliament a bill on the right to information, proposing the establishment of an independent body - a commissioner for information who would be in charge of the "right to information" area.

Under the current law, the agency for the protection of personal information is in charge of everything related to the right to information and the protection of personal information. Under the new law, the information commissioner would be in charge of all issues related to the right to information and the agency would deal with personal information protection issues.
Administration Minister Arsen Bauk underlined the importance of the government-sponsored bill as right to information was one of the fundamental constitutional rights.
Also sent to parliament was the final bill on courts under which, according to Justice Minister Orsat Miljenic, the Supreme Court president has the obligation to submit a report on the state of the judicial authority to parliament once a year.
Amendments to the law on the State Judicial Council are aimed at increasing the responsibility of court presidents as they envisage three new grounds for their dismissals.
The government also sent to parliament amendments to the law on the enforcement of prison sentences, adjusting it with the new Penal Code.
