A German-Croatian investment forum began in Berlin on Wednesday to discuss models of economic cooperation between Germany and Croatia, and in his address the Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds, Branko Grcic, invited German businesses to step up investment in Croatia.
"Croatia is a country with great business opportunities, offering a wide range of advantages, and I believe that this forum will result in new German investments in the Croatian economy," Grcic said. Grcic in particular called on those who had once intended to invest in Croatia, but had changed their minds, to try again. "Come and explore new possibilities in a new and improved investment environment," he said. Participants said that the potential for economic development in Croatia was great but that it would take some time before results could be seen. "I am sure we will see considerable progress in Croatia, but in ten years' time," said Eckhard Cordes, Chairman of the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations. In the afternoon, the forum continued in panel discussions involving representatives of industry and politics. The forum was organised by the Croatian government, the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations and Deutsche Bank. (Hina) vm
