The newly-built ring-road around the town of Jelsa on the island of Hvar and a reconstructed section of the Jelsa-Poljice road were formally inaugurated on Tuesday, with the price of the 14.5-kilometre-long routes being some 60 million kuna, which was ensured by the Hrvatske Ceste" road operator (HC).

"The government has invested over 100 million kuna in Jelsa through this and other projects," Milanovic said.

The transport minister said that the new road would boost traffic safety and reduce traffic jams during summer seasons.
The Jelsa-Poljice section is part of the 53-kilometre-long state road from Jelsa to Sucuraj, and Hajdas Doncic promised the reconstruction of the remaining part of the route, adding that the government would try to obtain non-repayable funds from the European Union for that purpose.
The premier and the ministers arrived in Jelsa from the Divulje air base near Split by hydro-plane.
Later on Tuesday, PM Milanovic will travel to the island of Lastovo to attend Shrove Tuesday ceremonies.
