Milanovic invites Japanese business people to invest in Croatia

Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic met on Thursday with executives of the Japan Business Federation and managers of Japan's leading companies, inviting them to cooperate with and invest in Croatia, the government said in a press release

"We don't cooperate enough with Japan and this was an invitation to their prime minister and senior politicians, representatives of the biggest corporations. They are welcome in Croatia. Croatia offers security for investments, the lowest level of corruption, no corruption. It's an important thing that I'm repeating all the time and some of the representatives of the biggest corporations saw that here," Milanovic said.

On the second day of his official visit to Japan, he met with representatives of about 30 companies such as Nippon Steel, Mitsubishi, Sumitom, Nissan, Toshiba, Mitsui, Japan Airlines, ANA Holdings, Hitachi, Mazda, Marubeni and Japan Tobacco as well as of the energy, pharmaceutical and chemical industries.

Milanovic is the first Croatian PM to officially visit Japan. On Wednesday, he met with PM Shinzo Abe, saying afterwards that the energy sector could help to increase Japanese investments in Croatia. Abe said Japan wanted to continue to develop bilateral relations.

Milanovic also met with Naruhito, the Crown Prince of Japan, and held talks with members of the Japanese-Croatian Parliamentary Friendship Group.
