Milanovic says TTIP is in Croatia's interest
Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic on Wednesday said that the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) was in Croatia's interest, criticising an interpellation of 21 Croatian members of parliament regarding the matter of this trade agreement being negotiated between the European Union and the United States.
I can understand that someone wants to be politically popular, but the interpellation is misplaced, Milanovic said in the answer regarding the 21 MPs' interpellation.
He said that there was a series of safeguards that enables the overseeing of the related developments and the negotiations between Brussels and Washington.
The government stated in the answer that it strongly advocated the ongoing negotiations ion the TTIP.
Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic said that since its admission to the EU, Croatia had increased its exports by 9% and that the TTIP was in the country's interest.
