Minister Dobrovic's statement on the waste management plan

Environment and Energy Minister Slaven Dobrovic said on Thursday that the waste management plan would probably be on the agenda of the next cabinet meeting and that the country would not suffer any consequences because the plan wasn't adopted today.

The waste management plan was not discussed at Thursday's cabinet meeting because one section of the plan needs to be modified. There is no controversy and it will probably be adopted at the next meeting, Dobrovic said.

He added that it was not a big deal that the plan for 2016 had not been adopted formally and that this would not result in any consequences for Croatia.

"What is important is that we have seriously embarked on implementing the designed plan," he added.

Asked when a decision could be made about the amount of fees for renewable energy sources, Dobrovic said that that would be discussed in the weeks to come and that a final solution to that problem would be defined in the first quarter of 2017.

With regard to an ordinance adopted by the government that will amend the Renewable Energy Sources Act, Dobrovic said that this would not lead to any new cost for citizens.

Dobrovic explained that energy purchased from a producer of renewable energy is practically bought at a regulated price so the market operator doesn't need to go on the market. If, on the other hand, that were to be the case, the difference would have to be covered by the operator, most probably from energy fees.
