Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on Thursday received Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis and they pushed for bolstering the two countries' relations in the economy, culture and defence as well as for continuing the good cooperation within the EU and NATO, the government said in a press release.

During the talks on boosting trade, Plenkovic said he was pleased with the six low-floor trams which Croatia's Koncar company made for and delivered to the city of Liepaje.

Vejonis said Croatia was becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination among Latvians and pushed for further improving the transport connections between the two countries. He also commended the role of Latvia's Air Baltic national airline in connecting Riga with the resorts on Croatia's Adriatic coast.

The two officials also talked about preparations for Brexit, the fight against illegal migration, cooperation within the Three Seas Initiative, and a summit of central and east European countries and China due in Dubrovnik next month.
