PM Sanader held talks with US Deputy Secretary of Defence

ZAGREB, Sept 29 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on Monday held talks with the US Deputy Secretary of Defence, Gordon England, the Croatian government said in a press release.

The US was one of the first countries to ratify the protocol on Croatia's accession to NATO, sending a message to other NATO countries to do the same, said England.

He congratulated Sanader on the foreign policy, which achieved a historic success by strengthening Croatia's international position, and stressed that results such as the invitation to join NATO, the upcoming accession to the European Union, and the clear positioning of Croatia as a stability factor in Southeast Europe, could be achieved only through resolute and effective leadership, according to the press release.

The two officials also discussed the situation in this region, notably in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Sanader stressed Bosnia's stability depended on the respect for the equality of its three constituent peoples - Croats, Muslims and Serbs.
