PM sends condolences to Hungarian, South Korean counterparts after tourist boat sinks
Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on Thursday sent his condolences to the prime ministers of Hungary and South Korea, Viktor Orban and Lee Nak-yeon respectively, following a boat disaster in Budapest in which at least eight people have lost their lives, the government said in a press release on Thursday.
A sightseeing boat carrying South Korean tourists sank in the Danube in Budapest following a crash with a cruise ship, Hungary's police have reported.
The disaster occurred on a popular section of the Danube where tourists can view the parliament house. At least 20 people are still missing.
Plenkovic expressed his condolences to the families of those killed and hope that rescue squads will find as many of the missing as possible. He also wished a speedy recovery to all those who were injured in the accident, the press release said.
Plenkovic offered Prime Minister Orban the help of Croatian rescue teams in the search for those still missing.
