PM talks INA future with CEO Fasimon

Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on Tuesday met with the new president of the management board of the INA energy company, Sandor Fasimon, saying INA was a strategic company for Croatia, and they also discussed the future of the Petrokemija artificial fertiliser manufacturer.

According to a government press release, Environmental Protection and Energy Tomislav Coric attended the meeting and Fasimon presented INA's financial position, external environment, key challenges and business plans.

Plenkovic said INA was a strategic national company and that the government's priorities were a viable oil and gas production, reserve renewal, expansion, and a modern refinery system.

He said the government expected INA to become an even more important driver of Croatia's economic growth, which would guarantee energy security and ensure high employment in the sector.

Discussing the future of Petrokemija, Plenkovic said he expected the European Commission's consent concerning recapitalisation in the next few weeks. He added that EU Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager recently said she was pleased with the government's efforts regarding the completion of recapitalisation based on market principles, the goals being viable business and continuation of production.
