Presidential election to be held Dec 28

Croatia's presidential election will be held on December 28 and the government will adopt a formal decision to that effect on Thursday, government spokesman Nikola Jelic said in response to Hina's query on Wednesday.

A possible runoff will be held on January 11.

Candidates for the sixth presidential election may be nominated by political parties registered in Croatia, one or more together, as well as by voters.

Regardless of who nominates them, candidates must collect at least 10,000 voter signatures supporting their candidacy. Each voter may support only one candidate.

So far, candidacies have been announced by incumbent President Ivo Josipovic, Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic, Milan Kujundzic, Ivan Grubisic, Anto Djapic and Ivan Rude.
