Prime Minister Kosor says EC's progress report favorable for Croatia

ZAGREB, Oct 14 (Hina) - Croatia is satisfied with this year's European Commission progress report, Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor said in Zagreb on Wednesday, announcing that Croatia would continue to fulfil the necessary benchmarks so as to successfully wrap up its EU entry negotiations next year.

PM Kosor on Wednesday received Dirk Lange, EC Enlargement Directorate-General's unit for Croatia, who presented to her the Commission's report on Croatia for 2009.

According to the report Croatia has made significant headway in all areas and in all negotiating chapters, Lange said, adding that Croatia's EU membership talks could be completed next year.

PM said Croatia will be fully satisfied after the negotiations are completed and after it joins the European Union.
Kosor and Lange also talked about the continuation of judicial reform and the fight against corruption and organised crime.

The EC official said a technical group for drawing up an accession treaty would be set up. He also highlighted the importance of the agreement to unblock Croatia's EU entry talks, congratulating Kosor on her efforts in this regard.
