Prime Minister Milanovic: We're counting on people's patience, results will come

Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic on Thursday commented on his cabinet's first year in office, saying that the government was doing all that was possible to bring order to the country "where things could not be foreseen and where sometimes it was not possible to do business normally." He asked citizens for patience "because the results will come."

"It's been a year since the election and when I say that we didn't make any promises, I don't mean we're escapists trying to avoid responsibility, but it's just a reminder that we were responsible and aware of the difficult situation," Milanovic said at a cabinet meeting.

"We are doing what we can do. We are putting in order the state for which I cannot say that it was a state of disorder and chaos, but it was a state where it was not possible to legitimately predict certain things and where sometimes it was not possible to do business normally," the prime minister said.

"We will continue our work and the results will come. We always take into account people's patience, which is not endless, but only systematic and hard work can eventually bear fruit," he added.
Milanovic said that the government did not expect uncritical praise, but that it would try to rectify the mistakes that had occurred. "There have been omissions, the first year is always tough. We are counting on people's patience and not on their blindness, and they should say what's not right," he said, concluding that "there will no additional tax burden, but then again there has been none before."
