Prime Minister, Swedish King discuss economic cooperation

Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic and his wife Sanja Music Milanovic on Tuesday received the Swedish royal couple King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia for talks on Croatia's forthcoming accession to te European Union and opportunities to deepen economic relations between Croatia and Sweden, the government said in a press release.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia were quoted as saying that they were glad to be in Croatia again.

Milanovic, who earlier in the day met with the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Swedish telecommunications corporation Ericsson, Hans Vestberg, highlighted the cooperation between Ericsson and Croatia's Nikola Tesla as an example of good bilateral cooperation.

The talks also focused on tourism and environmental protection.

In attendance at the meeting were Croatian Environmental Protection Minister Mihael Zmajlovic, his Swedish counterpart Lena Ek and Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt.

In the afternoon, the Swedish royal couple, accompanied by President Ivo Josipovic and his wife Tatjana, attended the opening of an exhibition of works of famous Swedish sculptor Carl Milles in the Mestrovic Gallery in Zagreb.

Milles and world-famous Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovic were friends and connected by many common interests.
