Basic salary of budgetary users to amount to 4,819 kuna as of January

The new base for the calculation of the salaries of budgetary users in 2007 will amount to 4,819.66 kuna and will apply as of January next year, the Croatian government decided on Thursday.

ZAGREB, Dec 21 (Hina) - The new base for the calculation of the salaries of budgetary users in 2007 will amount to 4,819.66 kuna and will apply as of January next year, the Croatian government decided on Thursday.
In line with an agreement with its social partners, the government increased the basic salary by six percent.
Finance Minister Ivan Suker said at the government session that some 225,000 employees who receive salaries from the state budget, could count on a higher salary.
The minister went on to say that the new pay base will affect some 400,000 people, because it would reflect on the amount of social contributions.
He explained that a higher pay base meant a higher base for the calculation of many social contributions, such as contributions for population policy.
The government sent to parliament several bills, including a bill on consumer protection, which bans, among other things, unfair and aggressive business practices, and bills on courts and prosecutors' offices, which bind judges and officials in prosecutors' offices to report their assets.
